University West launches Virtual Campus.

To attract new students during covid-19, the Swedish university University West is investing in new technology. In short, a completely virtual replica of the University campus – which we at Wizitory designed and built.

– We usually invite students to physical events such as our education fair or Open House to give them a closer look at what it is like to study at our school. In 2020, however, we had to think differently. This resulted in the creation of creating our own virtual world in 3D. This is a new way of meeting prospective students and will also complement physical meetings after the pandemic ends, says Helena Irvestam Wassenius, Team Leader Marketing Communication, and Student Recruitment, at University West.

Since Virtual Campus is a digital replica of the physical campus, you can virtually wander around and discover what it is like to study at University West. At the event area, visitors can meet the university’s students digitally. In addition, it is possible to take a digital test to see which higher education is best for you. At the Library, you can read everything about the programs and courses. And in the large lecture hall, ‘Albertsalen,’ it is possible for visitors to take part in information films about everything from studying abroad to the University’s profile.

New technology creates new opportunities

– The benefits of a virtual campus are many. Among other things, we can reach a significantly broader audience when we are not limited by a physical location that people need to go to. We also see great potential in developing our Virtual Campus even more. We hope to meet more target groups here in the future, says Helena Irvestam Wassenius.

For us at Wizitory, the making of Virtual Campus has been yet another important indication of how the Wizitory platform will keep contributing to the embodiment of brands in any field.

– As we see it, we are in the midst of a paradigm shift in how we meet and build relationships between people and brands. Covid-19 has, of course, contributed to speed up this development. Still, I believe that we are at the beginning of a permanent change in people’s behavior as more and more are discovering the benefits of virtual events, says Mikael Stenberg, CEO at Wizitory.
